Station 2 provides ALS services to the district

Truck 2 now ALS

As of February 3, 2010, station 2 in Shalimar is now providing advanced life support services to its district.  This is a major accomplishment achieved by the fire district that is trying to provide the highest level of service to its citizens.  The department now has 2 ALS fire engines in service 24/7.  The department started providing ALS services on October 1, 2008, with the partnership with Okaloosa County department of public safety.

Station 2 construction

Station 2 addition

Station 2's new addition has begun and has started to take shape.  The department is scheduled to move into this addition later this year.  The construction will add increased kitchen/ bunk room space with ADA compliant restrooms.  Keep checking in to see its progress!

Truck 2 arrives

Truck 2

OCW received this new 2009 Sutphen SL 75' ladder in December of 2009.  This is the departments first fully manned 24/7 ladder company.  The truck is housed in the Shalimar station (Sta-2).  The truck was purchased with impact fees gained from new construction over the past few years.  It has a 75 foot ladder that can be used for buildings up to the 5th floor of any building.  The department placed the truck in the Shalimar station because of its high amount of 2 and 3 story buildings in its first due area.  This truck company manned 24/7 will have a big impact on the safety and firefighting abilities of the department.

The OCW family past and present got together once again for its annual Christmas party at the Sons of Italy Hall in Ft. Walton Bch.  There was a lot of good food and fun this year.  Awards and door prizes were given out, and Santa arrived with gifts for the children.  The department would like to thank the Sons of Italy for letting us use the hall again this year.

North Gate Parade

Santa's sleigh

E-3 was decked out this year with lights and Holiday spirit for its annual North Gate luminaries parade.  The department has participated for the last 5 years in the parade.  Every year we hope to make it a little bit better than the last.  This year the weather did not cooperate with us.  The first night was rain and the second was heavy fog, but we made the best of it.
